Trophy Club has the honor of being named the safest city in Texas, according to a recent survey from SafeWise.

Nearby Colleyville ranked No. 4 on the list from the security and safety online resource.

According to the study’s methodology page, the safest cities rankings are “intended to highlight cities with low crime rates and ignite conversation and action around how to make all cities and communities safer.” Cities were ranked using the latest FBI crime data, demographic information and the company’s own safety study.

Among other North Texas cities ranking high on the list are Fate (No. 6), Murphy (No. 7), University Park (No. 8), Highland Village (No. 10), Sachse (No. 11), Keller (No. 15), Melissa (No. 17), Joshua (No. 18) and Wylie (No. 20).

Also ranking within the top 50 were Celina, Corinth, Prosper, Flower Mound, Fairview, Southlake and Heath. Rounding out the top 50 were Allen, Frisco and McKinney coming in at No. 41, 47 and 50, respectively.

Census Bureau population data was used to identify the median city population in each state and the report includes only cities with populations above the median in order to reduce the risk of outliers and skewed data, according to SafeWise’s website.
