“I tested positive for COVID and am in isolation away from our team and my family," Smart said in a statement. "I am working remotely and look forward to rejoining our team in person when it is safe to do so."

The Longhorns' next two games against Iowa State and TCU had already been postponed due to coronavirus protocol.

From NFL plays to college sports scores, all the top sports news you need to know every day.

Smart, who was on the hot seat to start the season, has guided the Longhorns to an 11-2 record. Texas is second in the Big 12 title race to Baylor and well-positioned to potentially garner a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Smart, 43, is in his sixth season at Texas. He has led the Longhorns to two NCAA tournament appearances. He coached VCU to the Final Four in 2011 and was highly coveted by major programs in the years that followed before settling on Texas in 2015.
