Camp Fire North Texas is poised to begin its swimming pool program the first weekend in June at Harrell Park, Bettye Ricks, executive director, said.

The fun will begin at the Camp Fire North Texas swimming pool when it opens at 1 p.m. June 5.

The pool will be open at 1 p.m. June 5 and June 6 at Harrell Park, which is next to Lucy Park.

Camp Fire North Texas usually kicks the program off on Memorial Day weekend, but staff members are dealing with a mechanical issue this weekend, Ricks said.

The pool is 36 feet by 106.2 feet, and it has a wraparound concrete deck and a stone bathhouse, according to the Camp Fire website.

The pool's water depth is from 3 to 10 feet, and it includes a 6-inch deep splash pad for babies, according to the website.

Ricks said Camp Fire North Texas is still hiring camp counselors and pool staff members.

Anyone who is interested can call 940-322-5209 or come by the Camp Fire North Texas office at 2414 Ninth Street, she said.

The organization's Day Camp begins June 7 and runs for three weeks through June 25, Ricks said.
